While entering information in your media plan, you might notice some error messages in your costs in the form of little orange triangles. There are 14 different instances in which this could happen because they logically don't make sense. Instead of restricting what you can enter, we provide a tooltip why the desired value is unable to calculate. Below are the errors and complete explanation for each.

**If the Rate Method is Total, then Delivery Costs cannot be a percentage of Net Media Cost**

When you select Total as your Rate Method, the system must back out all other costs (including Delivery Costs) to get the Net Media Cost. We can’t calculate the Net Media Cost without the Delivery Costs, so the Delivery Costs cannot be a percentage of the Net Media Cost.

**If the Rate Method is Total, then Delivery Costs cannot be a percentage of Gross Media Cost**

When you select Total as your Rate Method, the system must back out all other costs (including Delivery Costs) to get the Gross Media Cost. We can’t calculate the Gross Media Cost without the Delivery Costs, so the Delivery Costs cannot be a percentage of the Gross Media Cost.

**If the Rate is Net or Gross, Production Costs cannot be a percentage of Total Cost**

When you select Net or Gross as your Rate Method, the system must it add together with Production Costs, Agency Compensation, and Delivery Costs to get the Total Cost. We can’t calculate the Total Cost without Production Costs, so a percentage of the Total Cost cannot be the Production costs.

**If the Rate is Net or Gross, Agency Compensation cannot be a percentage of Total Cost**

When you select Net or Gross as your Rate Method, the system must add it together with Production Costs, Agency Compensation, and Delivery Costs to get the Total Cost. We can’t calculate the Total Cost without Agency Compensation, so a percentage of the Total Cost cannot be the Agency Compensation.

**Production Costs plus Agency Compensation cannot be ≥ 100% of Total Media Cost**

The Total Media Cost is composed of the Production Costs and Agency Compensation, therefore they cannot sum to more than 100%.

**Delivery Costs cannot be ≥ 100% of Total Cost**

Delivery Costs are a part of the Total Cost, therefore they cannot sum to more than 100%.

**If the Rate is Net or Gross, Production Costs cannot be derived from KPIs that are based on Total Media Cost**

When you select Net or Gross as your Rate Method, the system must it add together with Production Costs and Agency Compensation to get the Total Media Cost. We can’t calculate the Total Media

Cost without the Production Costs, nor can we calculate Production Costs derived from KPIs based on Total Media Cost without the Total Media Cost.
