Flight Date Policies

While there are many instances when flight dates are a specific start and end date, there are also situations where logic resides behind what these dates should be - especially end dates.  For example, the placement should run until the end of the month, should be a specific number of days long, or each flight should run based on a broadcast week.

Bionic supports the concept of "Smart" flight dates for a number of common scenarios by offering a variety of "policy" options.

Establishing policies will make date changes easy.  If a deadlines get missed or the client changes their date - a quick change to a Start Date will update a non-placement End Date, or for a flighted placement can update the entire series of flights.

Placement End Date Policies

When you click into the End Date field, you will be presented with a number of options from which you may select to help easily define what the end date should be. By using these options, changes made to the Start Date in the future will result in an intelligent automatic updates to the End Date field.

Start Date Policies

For non-flighted placements, the Start Date will be a specific date you will define.  However, when flighting a placement, subsequent flights may need to start conditional to the End Date of the previous flight.  Subsequent flights will default to start 'Right after Previous Flight'.

When you click into a Start Date of a subsequent flight, you will be presented with options to help drive intelligent automatic updates to the Start Date should something change about the prior flight dates.

When you enable flighting for a placement, you will be presented with a list of rules to choose from that Bionic will use to intelligently create the correct number of flights and respective flight dates for each.

n Evenly Sized Flights: Based on the Start & End Date specified, flights will be split up evenly across the number of flights specified.

By Calendar Week (Sun-Sat): Flights will break out weekly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the Sunday of the week and ending on the Saturday of the week.  If the placement starts or ends mid-week, those dates will be respected.

By Calendar Month: Flights will break out monthly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the 1st day of the calendar month and ending on last day of the calendar month.  If the placement starts or ends mid-month, those dates will be respected.

By Calendar Quarter: Flights will break out quarterly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the 1st day of the calendar month of the quarter and ending on last day of the calendar month for that quarter.  If the placement starts or ends mid-quarter, those dates will be respected.

By Broadcast Week (Mon-Sun): Flights will break out weekly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the Monday of the week and ending on the following Sunday.  If the placement starts or ends mid-week, those dates will be respected.

By Broadcast Month: Flights will break out monthly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the 1st Monday of the calendar month and ending on last Sunday of the calendar month.  If the placement starts or ends mid-month, those dates will be respected.

By Broadcast Quarter: Flights will break out quarterly across the placement flight dates, each starting on the 1st Monday day of the calendar month of the quarter and ending on last Sunday of the calendar month for that quarter.  If the placement starts or ends mid-quarter, those dates will be respected.
